Danny Tate court tragedy 6 Replies

If the name Danny Tate sounds familiar, chances are you spent a lot of time in Nashville clubs in the 1980s. A tall, rangy rocker with radio-ready pop chops, he cut a dashing figure locally in the da…

Good bye Dale Hawkins The jam sessions in heaven just got better.

Dale Hawkins lost his battle with colon cancer on Feb. 13 in Little Rock. The music that we play today would be different without his contributions like Suzie Q. Keep Rockin, Dale and save me a seat.

Need some feedback

This is my first crack at writing music. Sure wish some of you would take some time and give some feedback so I could know what I'm doing right and wrong. The songs are here at AMT. Michael John Cook

My Take on The Feel Good Lounge's Demise

There are a lot of unanswered questions about the demise of Opal Fly's Feel Good Lounge in such a short time in Fayetteville. In the simplest of terms, I do believe they were light years ahead of their time much like my own newspaper, The Arkansas Free Press. We shared a vision of peace and love unlike anything since the 60s without mean spiritedness. We provided art, music and understanding in a big way, to reach many. So to celebrate Opal and Fox's vision, I have created a weekend to come forw… Continue

I'd Rather Be Busy Than Bored- Two Excellent Events In the Cool Ride of a Duo

So, this past Friday, Jawbone and Jolene had been invited by Chad Carter, front man for UNSEEN EYE, to do a little opener set at their cd release party at Cornerstone Pub in N. Little Rock. We showed up in plenty of time, and of course there was no parking close by, so I double parked long enough to drop off Jo and our gear in front of the club. Joe, the video guy we've been seeing around a lot lately, graciously helped take our amps in with Jo while I parked around the corner. Thanks Joe!

Origins of Jawbone and Jolene, a Roots/Blues Duo

OK, you asked for it the other night at Parrot Beach so here goes:

Being a longtime harpman and vocalist, and somewhat recent transplant to Arkansas at the time- just a few years in- I had tried to let my music aspirations slide for a time, and then got hooked up with a project that took me all over the state playing clubs and a fest or 2. That project came to a close eventually. Another project beckoned me, and I got busy with a 4 piece band that I co-founded, and we rocked along for a… Continue
